This video is actually out of date now and the project has grown IMMENSELY since then.
If you visit my youtube channel you'll find better and more up to date videos on my page, or visit my deviantart page http://thecrimsonemo.deviantart.com/ to download the project for yourself.
I post updates and screenshots on a regular basis so you can see the progress being made on the project first hand.
Edit: The project is now up and ready for download, click here to grab a copy: http://thecrimsonemo.deviantart.com/journal/Sonic-Adventure-Minecraft-is-now-up-344619949
Apologies in advance for any slowdown and lag you may experience during this video. The capture software I'm using takes up a lot of ram and causes Minecraft to run really slowly.
Happy Holidays Everyone! Before I finally go public and release the first beta of Sonic Adventure Minecraft for download I wanted to show off some of the new areas and improvements that have been made since my previous video.
This video is only covering the newly built areas around the city so if you want to see a more in depth walk through of the map, you'll find that in my previously uploaded video back in October.
This video covers the expansions made to Twinkle Park and the Station Square Waterfront, two entirely new areas build in Downtown Station Square, some visual improvements made to the scenery outside of the Station Square Shopping Mall but more importantly, Speed Highway is now a fully explorable level.
Not only does this make Speed highway the first fully explorable action stage in the project but I've also greatly expanded the level to nearly over 4x its original size with completely new areas of my own design. You'll cross glass bridges, go through buildings, restaurants, car parks, through entirely new city streets, 5 star hotels, train stations built upon skyscrapers, deadly sewer tunneling systems, subway tunnels and underground shopping malls, as well as plummeting through skyscrapers and into giant fountains!
The stage itself is far from finished but it IS explorable this time around and I hope to have all of the pathways finished up in time for the first public release.
There have also been some updates made to the Speed Highway Shopping Mall which isn't covered in the video, as well as a huge area on the map that I neglected to show in both videos because it's too unfinished to show off called Central Park (which in its final design would actually be a recreation of the Westfield Shopping Mall in Stratford, London)
I won't bother to block the area off from the demo now that I've already mentioned it, though there really isn't anything there to see for the time being and I wouldn't advise you to go there as you can easily fall out of the map.
After the demo has been released I plan to start expanding the city greatly and start going into Sonic X's territory, going through every episode and taking screenshots to give me an accurate feel for the city which I can then map out and bring into the project. The area of Westopolis, (which is on the other side of downtown Speed Highway) was built to be a gateway between the two distinct cities, so it'll all feel natural when you explore the city in full.
I'll also make a start on Twinkle Park and finish off Casinopolis, though I won't be attempting Emerald Coast for a long period of time. It's design may look simple but anyone who uses Minecraft would know that trying to be creative with sand and water is a HUGE pain to deal with! The Station Square waterfront took months of painstakingly hard labor alone, and that's not even half way finished yet!
As for the Mystic Ruins and the Egg Carrier hub worlds, I'm not attempting either until Station Square is fully complete. I want the train journey from Station Square to the ruins to feel as authentic as possible, so the train is going to go deep into the city, stopping off as various other train stations deep in and around the city before it finally heads out of the city, into the desert, through a dark tunnel in a mountain and finally emerging in the Mystic Ruins.
As for the Egg Carrier, it'll be nestled deep in besides Eggman's abandoned Mystic Ruins base. It's important to me that the ship be on solid or non-solid ground because building the Hot Shelter stage would be near impossible if the ship was in the air.
I'm probably not going to include Sky Deck in the project because honestly, I can't even imagine where the stage will go. I mean think about it, the stage is more than 4x bigger than the Egg Carrier itself. It doesn't belong anywhere!
