www.juniper.net/sdn Software Defined Networking. It's the current buzz of the networking world. But as popular as the topic has been over the past year, it's still shrouded in misconception. There's confusion surrounding what it's about—is it about software? Reducing CAPEX? Data center networking? And there are plenty of myths about where to get started, how long it'll take before it'll catch on and even more myths about its potential.

Juniper Networks' Software-Defined Secure Network

01:44
With today’s rapidly changing and sophisticated cyber threat landscape, traditional strategies for network security that focus on hardening the perimeter and endpoints are no longer sufficient. The truth is bad actors and threats are already inside the network. We must approach security from the top down and bottoms up. What’s outside the perimeter is no longer the only concern, now it’s more critical than ever to start talking secure networks with Juniper’s unique Software-Defined Secure Network (SDSN).

How to configure a high availability chassis cluster on a Juniper Networks SRX210 device

11:07
This video will show you how to configure a high availability chassis cluster on a Juniper Networks SRX210 device. Here is a summary of the steps; there is more detail in the video. This video provides step-by-step instructions, as well as a live capture of the Junos OS commands used to configure clustering on a pair of SRX210 devices. The following is a condensed version of the process: Prerequisites: 1. Remove any existing configuration associated with the interfaces that will be transformed into out-of-band management and control link when the chassis cluster feature is enabled. 2. Confirm that the hardware on both devices is the same. 3. Confirm also that the software on both standalone devices is the same Junos OS version. 4. Confirm that the license keys are the same on both devices. Please note that if you are running Junos OS 10.4, Ethernet switching is not supported. Configuration: 1. Physically connect the two devices to form the control and fabric (data) links. 2. Enable cluster mode and reboot the devices. 3. Configure the device specific configurations such as host names and management IP addresses. 4. Configure the FAB links (data plane links for RTO sync, etc.) 5. Configure the Redundancy Group 0 for the Routing Engine (RE) failover properties. Also configure Redundancy Group 1 to define the failover properties for the Reth interfaces. 6. Configure interface monitoring. 7. Configure the Redundant Ethernet (Reth) interfaces and assign the Redundant interface to a zone. 8. Commit your configuration. The commit and any changes will be copied over to the Secondary Node. For the text version of this video, refer to http://kb.juniper.net/KB15505. How To Create PCAP Packet Capture on a J-Series or SRX Branch Device

05:41
This video explains how to create a PCAP packet capture on a Juniper Networks J-Series or SRX Branch device, which can be read via Wireshark or Ethereal. This is a troubleshooting strategy for IPv4 protocol traffic. In some cases, it may not be possible to have a PC or server available for Wireshark, Ethereal or tcpdump capture. In such cases, the following Juniper Networks devices can perform a packet capture without them: All J-Series devices SRX100 SRX110 SRX210 SRX220 SRX240 SRX550 SRX650 SRX300 Series SRX1500 Here is a summary of the steps involved: 1. Configure forwarding options 2. Configure a firewall filter for packet capture 3. Apply the firewall filter to the desired interfaces 4. Commit to activate the packet capture 5. Copy the packet capture file from the SRX or J-Series device, and view it with your PCAP utility Please note that the PCAP packet capture can only capture IPv4 protocol traffic. For the text version of this video, please refer to http://kb.juniper.net/KB11709. The Juniper Networks Support Site can be found at http://www.juniper.net/support.
