Hey Clashers! A couple episodes back I brought you TH9 GoHoWiWi, today I'd like to focus on the same strategy but altered a little to work for TH8. Join me as I break down this two phase attack. Consisting of the GoWi attack strategy followed immediately by the standard hog raid!
Some in depth strategy advice from one of my viewers (can also be seen below). Thanks AlexMacIsKING!
"Been working on the strategy since I last commented 3 weeks ago. I've gotten it to 3 star very often, usually always atleast 80% and like I said, mostly 3 star. I've been taking 1 archer, 3 barbs, 12 hogs, 2 golems, 6 wb, and the rest wizards with max hogs in the CC. Sometimes I take an extra hog and one less barb and wiz, all depends on how many wiz I think I'll need.
This attack has been successful on tight as well as medium spread bases, though when it's the medium I tend to like doing it as a clean up attack after a clan mate has revealed or at least helped reveal where the big bombs are, although I have 3 starred without that. Been sending in 1 hog to pull the CC and the barch bit to draw it out. Of course I personally have found drawing the CC to be a plus though the opinion may very because it does cost some wiz, and also it has made the attack very close on time. In fact when the attack hasn't worked for me when pulling the CC it was probably time related about 90% of the time. When you can pull the CC out to an open space that lines up with getting to the BK in the base it's a very good thing, because it's best for the hogs if the golem half distracts the BK although there is another option for that, which I will get to.
But since it takes time and wiz to pull the CC, I've found it to be most efficient that as soon as you put the wiz you need down to kill the CC you start the golems, before the CC is even killed. If you start the attack like that in the same part of the base you drew the CC to, then the wiz aren't wasted because they join the golems and the rest of your attack when they finish the CC. It takes a bit of skill to get that timing right but I for sure think its and advantage. When I haven't cleared the CC the risk I've encountered is the wiz putting themselves in dangerous situations to kill CC troops, as well as the CC breaking a golem though often when I have cleared the CC I have a golem left unbroken after the defense is all taken out. So yeah, balancing act there I guess.
As far as starting the hogs go, I have found there is a couple different options. First rule of thumb for me is keeping them away from the BK. When the golems do distract the BK it's fine to start hogs on the opposite side of the base. The one issue sometimes is the hogs spreading themselves out too thin, so I always choose to start the hogs on the side with less defense, especially cus they can come in the back door when the other stuff is distracted. Careful deployment can sometimes keep them in 2 groups but it isn't automatic. As far as my priorities, when I clear the CC I think it is more important to start the golems from where the CC was cleared too, rather than occupy the BK. So therefore I've had 2 different tactics for that situation. One of them is saving my BK to distract the other BK once my hogs get close to range, but if the base is tight this is not possible. The second is starting the hogs so that the BK is the last thing they come too, so he doesn't chew them up in the middle of their route. Using the healing spells sometimes work but it's hard to totally protect them from the BK like that. One nice tactic I've done on a nice square base, the BK was in the left corner and the CC was kind of on the bottom to right corner side. I cleared the CC in the bottom corner and started the golem/wiz part from there. Then I started the hogs from the right corner of the base. By doing it like this, the golem portion of the attack had already cleared some of the defenses, making more of a path for the hogs and making it more difficult for them to spread out. So the hogs crossed the base from right to left and the golem portion also went to the left where they meet the BK as all the defenses were being finished. By doing that I had a lot of hogs remaining at the end and some wiz and was good on time by about 15 seconds.
My last tip for the attack is the I like to save some wiz to help clear at the end of the attack, usually I save 3. It's a bit of a personal thing but it has helped. The one thing I still kind if need to learn a bit with is making sure I get the most out of my wizards on the golem/wiz half of the attack."
