Ransomware getting installed (how it looks like)
This video shows how it looks like, when ransomware is getting installed. We also demonstrate how to detect such malware at an early stage (in your e-mail account and by its attachment file) so you can hopefully detect them before they infect your PC.
Microsoft Windows 10 Update deletes your files! Who needs ransomware?
Yes, Microsoft, rolled back its October update, after several users lost files in their documents folder. Who needs ransomware when your OS can act as a wiper! This is yet another example of the effects of poor testing/QA, and a warning of inevitable future disasters. Video includes rant regarding Insider's builds, and what I think about using them on production systems as so many people do these days. ------------------------------------------- Check out: https://www.thepcsecuritychannel.com Want to join the TPSC community? CryptoLocker Ransomware What You Need To Know
CryptoLocker Ransomware What You Need To Know CryptoLocker is a new ransomware program that will encrypt your data using RSA & AES encryption. Once the malware has finished encrypting your data, a CryptoLocker program will pop up demanding payment to decrypt your data. this payment is either $100 or $300 in order to decrypt the files. I myself would never pay for this decryption of my data, because paying for something that was not encrypted in the first place is just wrong, plus these criminals hold innocent people to ransom. In this video I will show you how to remove CryptoLocker and show you a way to try and recover your data, also I will be using cryptoprevent from nick shaw. CryptoPrevent is a tiny utility to lock down any Windows OS to prevent infection by the Cryptolocker malware or 'ransomware', which encrypts personal files and then offers decryption for a paid ransom. http://www.foolishit.com/vb6-projects/cryptoprevent/ more useful info can be found here. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/cryptolocker-ransomware-information http://www.malwarebytes.org http://www.briteccomputers.co.uk

CryptoLocker (Crilock) File Encrypting Ransomware [OBSOLETED]
http://malwareup.org NOTE: As of August 6th 2014, the information about Cryptolocker in this video is obsolete. Security researchers managed to procure ALL private keys and decryption is now possible for everyone. Simply follow the link, submit an encrypted file and your private key will be emailed to you: https://www.decryptcryptolocker.com/ After two months of struggling, I finally give CryptoLocker a somewhat in depth review. More information about the ransomware can be found here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/cryptolocker-ransomware-information Note: Removal for this malware is trivial, since once your files are encrypted, no antivirus can restore them. One can use Malwarebytes' to remove the program, but the files will still be damaged.

Microsoft responds to global ransomware attacks | Engadget Today
Windows 'controlled folders' will protect from digital attacks. https://www.engadget.com/2017/06/29/windows-10-preview-controlled-folders/ Microsoft's latest Windows 10 Preview Build for Insiders in the Fast ring introduces what's obviously meant as a response to all the ransomware attacks targeting the platform these days. The build comes with a new feature called "controlled folders" that can protect their files from malicious apps and other threats. Windows closely monitors any changes made to anything in a controlled folder, so if any malware or blacklisted application tries to modify a file, they'll get a notification that something fishy's going on. To activate the feature, Insiders will have to toggle it on in the Windows Defender Security Center under the Virus & threat protection settings section. When Ransomware Strikes
When Ransomware Strikes When ransomware hits, you better be ready, because if it releases its payload, your data will be encrypted and the cyber-criminal will hold you and your data to ransom, unless you pay the fee they are asking you will not be able to recover your data unless there is a free decryption tool to decrypt your encrypted data. If you are luck you might be able to use data recovery software or shadow volume copies to recover data, but ransomware is getting smarter and delete shadow volume copy files on installation of the ransomware. So remember to backup your data on a regular basis and store it away from the computer you are using. In this video we will take a look at Cry Ransomware also known as CSTO. Once data is encrypted it will have the extension .cry Cry Ransomware allows user to decrypt 1 file for free, this can sometimes be use to decrypt all data with Kaspersky Ransomware Decryptor tool, it’s a long shot but sometimes it works, never pay the ransom, because there is no guarantee you will receive decryption key from the cyber criminals and it encourages them to create more of these ransomware. You can also use Shadow Explorer tool to attempt recovery of data, but as mentioned earlier, these sometimes get deleted. Need help with computer problems? Windows 10 Creators Update Offers New Ransomware Protection
Windows 10 Creators Update Offers New Ransomware Protection We all know how bad ransomware is and that how it can encrypt all your data, well Microsoft have come up with a built in option for Windows Defender which could be a game changer for Windows Defender. Windows Defender now has the ability to control folder access, this can be a custom folder of your choice or some of the default locations like Documents Videos Pictures Music Favorites So how does it do? it stops access to the folders and protects Files and folders from unauthorized changes from rogue programs and untrusted programs, this is a big leap forward for Windows defender. Hitler 2 Ransomware Prevents use of Windows
Hitler 2 Ransomware Prevents use of Windows A new version of Hitler ransomware called CainXPii ransomware seems to be more of a script kiddie prank, in my test it never encrypted the files on the computer, that said it does not mean it wont in the future. I tried it a number of times and it would not encrypt data. Another thing to think about is why would the creator of this ransomware want to disable and prevent the use of Windows operating system if they want to receive money? that makes me think its just a malicious prank to corrupt your computer. I will need to take a closer look at it over the weekend and analyse the file. Anyway I will show you how to repair you computer if you are ever hit with this type of malware. Its also a good way to fix file associations when malware has change them. This was a bit harder to do because the ransomware blocked the use of program and internet. Wanna Cry Ransomware Worldwide Attack
Wanna Cry Ransomware Worldwide Attack This ransomware has gone global, it's hit the NHS in the UK. Why? because they are running Windows XP which has no support for security patches, this global cyber attack which has crippled the health services in the UK. Once WannaCry ransomware is on the system it will encrypt the data on that computer in the background. Then the cyber criminals who created WannaCry ransomware will start demanding payment to regain access to vital medical records. $600 of untraceable bitcoins is the demand to release your data. This could be the biggest ransomware attack in history which has spread to over 100 countries. update for XP & WIn 8 http://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=KB4012598 disable SMBv1 (not SMBv2 or v3) https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2696547/how-to-enable-and-disable-smbv1,-smbv2,-and-smbv3-in-windows-vista,-windows-server-2008,-windows-7,-windows-server-2008-r2,-windows-8,-and-windows-server-2012 It's sad to think that over 90 per cent of NHS computers and equipment in the UK are still using Windows XP which is a 16-year-old operating system that has no support from Microsoft. Windows XP is vulnerable to these type of attacks which can leave NHS computer systems at risk in the future. They need to upgrade their hardware to stay protected and have a proper backup system in place where the data is stored away from the computers that they are using. Here is how WannaCry ransomware (WanaCrypt ransomware) spread so quick https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/security/ms17-010.aspx Microsoft issued a patch to fix this flaw back in March 2017, but organisations like the NHS running older and unsupported versions of Windows such as Windows XP were unable to apply the update because Microsoft no longer supplies security patches for those versions of Windows. There is no way to decrypt data yet. Why oh why are the NHS still running Windows XP? 1. Never pay the ransom fee. 2. Backup, Backup, Backup 3. Keep Windows system updated with latest updates and security patches. 4. Rollout Windows Operating system updates 5. Don't click on attachments from people you don't know. 6. Don't open links in email 7. Use common sense Join my forum for help and support http://www.briteccomputers.co.uk/forum

How to remove DJVU ransomware
Djvu ransomware is a file locking virus that comes from STOP malware family. First noticed in mid-December 2018, the virus quickly was followed by additional sub-variants, including .djvuu, .udjvu, .uudjvu and .djvuq. Read more about the threat here: https://www.2-spyware.com/remove-djvu-ransomware.html. Djvu ransomware virus usually enters machines with the help of various distribution methods, such as spam emails, exploits, fake updates, torrent files, weak RDP, etc. Soon after infiltration, malware contacts Command and Control server sends out the user ID of the victim and uploads _openme.txt ransom note on the computer, which explains the situation. Users are urged to contact crooks via [email protected] or [email protected] to receive the decryption software. However, once contacted, users are usually asked to pay ransom in Bitcoins to retrieve access to their data, which is not recommended by security experts. Instead, victims should take care of Djvu ransomware removal and then restore files with the help of backups or third-party recovery software. How to Prevent infect WannaCry Ransomware
How to Protect Yourself from Wanna Cry Ransomware? How do I Prevent WannaCry Ransomware: 1. Backup your computer immediately 2. Update your operating system 3. Inatall Microsoft Security Bulletin MS17-010 WannaCry ransomware MS17 010 patch download and install guide: https://youtu.be/_TcZYyzbpA0 The WannaCry ransomware is made up of two main parts: the ransomware itself — which encrypts users' files — and the SMB worm — the component that spreads the ransomware to random computers that have an exposed SMB port (port 445). Port 445 in Windows is by default used by "Server" service (real name is "lanmanserver") to provide file sharing via SMB protocol. To prevent Windows from listening on this port you need to stop and disable this service. The ransomware's SMB worm takes advantage of a vulnerability that Microsoft patched via security bulletin MS17-010 way back in March. Because WannaCry attacks were so bad, on Saturday, Microsoft also released extra patches for the SMB exploit for old operating systems it stopped supporting years before, such as Windows XP, Windows 8, and Windows Server 2003.

If you do not know, crypto ransomware will encrypt your data once on the system, most of these malicious malware cannot be decrypted and leave the user with loss of data, unless they pay the ransom, which I do not suggest you do. backing up your computer data has never been as important as is it today, ransomware can leave the user helpless and frustrated with its security software, using the right type of software is very important. How to remove Microsoft Decryptor Ransomware
http://www.411-spyware.com/remove-microsoft-decryptor-ransomware Microsoft Decryptor Ransomware uses a malicious DLL file to launch itself (the file itself is launched with the help of rundll32.exe), and this file can be downloaded onto your computer using the Angler Exploit Kit. This malicious infection encrypts personal data using the strong RSA encryption algorithm. In order to decrypt files, a decryption key is needed, and cyber criminals use this key as hostage until you pay a ransom. Well, even if you do pay it – which is not recommended – you might not get the key, and you might lose both your files and your money. Hopefully, your personal files are backed up, and you do not need to lose them or risk your savings. Once you figure out what you need to do in regards with the encryption of your files, you must delete Microsoft Decryptor Ransomware as soon as possible.
