Crochet Chevron Afghan Pattern Tutorial

19:24
If you follow this free crochet tutorial with Kristi Simpson, you can learn how to crochet a chevron afghan. The yarn being used is a sweet roll, self striping yarn that changes colors as you crochet. And the hook being used is a 6.5 mm crochet hook. The bigger size of the hook allows the afghan to be lighter and not as tight in terms of the stitching, which makes it the perfect afghan for most of the year because it will heat you up, but it is not a heavy, tightly woven crochet pattern. You can also change the colors of this pattern depending on who you are giving the afghan, so it is a customizable, light pattern for yourself, friends and family. Soft Crochet Chevron Blanket - Crochet Chevron Blanket in Any Size

47:07
Soft Crochet Chevron Blanket Video Tutorial and Pattern. Easy Level. Written Pattern is in the Show More Section below this video tutorial. By 'soft' I mean that the chevrons are soft, not sharp like you see in other patterns. They are much like a ripple. For a smaller or larger Soft Crochet Chevron Blanket use a multiple of 12 + 3 to create your foundation chain. For example: To make my blanket I am using 6 multiples of 12 + 3 (the extra 3 is for the turning chain.) 12 + 12 + 12 + 12 + 12 + 12 + 3 = 75 chain stitches to start my blanket. 12 stitches will create one chevron (the 'V' shape) as you start working stitches into the foundation chain. The size of the blanket I have made was a small one for demonstration purposes. Soft Crochet Chevron Blanket Written Instructions Design by Paula Daniele. Copyright © Crochet Hooks You. Crochet Waffle Stitch - Easy Baby Blanket

This 32" x 32" Crochet Baby Waffle Blanket was a two nighter project in front of the television to complete. It's an easy level project but for absolutely new beginners, you may struggle with identifying the chain stitches at the very beginning of the project. Once the first row across is formed, I found this to really be a cinch. Bernat Pipsqueak Hat There are two rows to repeat this pattern. The colours you see are the Bernat Pipsqueak Stripes version. How to Knit Ripple and Ridge Afghan (Closed Captions CC) Knit Chevron Blanket

25:26
Learn how to knit the Bernat Ripple and Ridge Knit Blanket (Chevron Stitch) from Yarnspirations featuring the new Bernat Beyond yarn! pattern and blog LINK HERE https://www.yarnspirations.com/bernat-ripple-and-ridge-knit-blanket/BRK0502-002082M.html The pattern falls in the EASY SKILL level for knitting. I cover all stitches, including the increase and decrease, and weaving tails so if this is your first big project you will have all skills needed in this video. If you have never knit a stitch before I do recommend learning the longtail cast on, knit and purl with one of my slower videos first. Let’s knit this blanket together! Download your pattern at the blog link above. Yarn Bernat Beyond color Cream (7 balls). Contrast A Bernat Beyond color Slate (4 balls). Contrast B Bernat Beyond color Pumpkin (4 balls). Contrast C *For Lovey size - 1 ball each color. Needles & Supplies • US 11 (8mm) circular needle with at least 40” • scissors • tapestry needle Skill Level Easy Size Approx 50½" x 60" [128.5 x 152.5 cm]. (Baby “Lovey” size 15”x19”) Skills demonstrated in tutorial Longtail Cast-on Knit Stitch Purl Stitch K2tog - decrease YO - increase Weaving in ends The blanket begins with a garter border then jumps right into the ripples. The ripples are created with a simple 2 row repeat that includes the K2tog (knit 2 stitches together) increase and the YO (yarnover) decrease. That’s right only two distinct rows to learn! My video tutorial walks you through the entire pattern from start to finish. We’ll spend most of our time focusing on the 2 rows of the ripple pattern to make sure you have a good understanding of the techniques. Once you begin working, the ripples will fall off your needles quickly and you’ll reach the first color change before you know it. Then I’ll show you how to add in a new color (2 ways) so whatever colors you choose your transitions will be smooth. We’ll also discuss and show how to weave in the tails for color changes on a garter stitch and for the ending tail. Lots of tips included! If you need a slower video on basic stitches (longtail cast-on, knit, purl & bind-off) or other techniques, please check out my slower tutorials on GoodKnit Kisses YouTube playlist. LINK https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLspNyS4jO47yzAdGmCh4osgYYvVBfHCJY Come knit along with me! BONUS! Make a Baby Lovey! I made a smaller baby “lovey” in the video in Purple, Lilac & Quartz Pink; 1 ball of each. The size is 15”x19” with a cast on of 48 stitches. Download the pattern, grab your yarn and needles and watch the video for complete tutorial. EDIT: I had added this to the loom knit version and didn't even think about it for the needle one. Here is a listing of cast on numbers. In parenthesis are the pattern repeat amounts. Hope this helps! Cast ons for different pattern repeats: CO 22 (1) CO 35 (2) CO 48 (3) CO 61(4) CO 74 (5) CO 87 (6) CO 100 (7) CO 113 (8) CO 126 (9) CO 139 *(10)* CO 152 (11) CO 165 (12) CO 178 (13) CO 191 (14) CO 204 (15) CO 217 (16) CO 230 (17) CO 243 (18) CO 256 (19) CO 269 (20) CO 282 (21) For loom Knit version click here: http://www.goodknitkisses.com/loom-knit-ripple-and-ridge-afghan/ Happy Crafting!! Crochet Wave Stitch Starting from Granny Squares

21:43
Many people struggle with the concept of doing Crochet Wave Afghans. A simple solution is to change the starting point to being linked granny squares. I used the joining method to start the waves after the granny was started that is the same in the Waving to Granny Crochet Afghan. I did the Waving to Granny Afghan as a tutorial sample and realized that the square is irrelevant for the style of the square as long as the final rounds resemble the look of a typical granny square. I also figured out minimum sizes for the granny squares to make this concept work. For the granny squares, you need a minimum of 1 space between the corners. The more revolutions you do on the square, the deeper the wave or chevron look. When you complete the first square, turn the square like a diamond in front of you. The depth of the wave is the distance between the top point and side points. You will complete 1 square as is. Then the remaining squares you will link them as you complete the final round. I show that in the tutorial below. Easy Crochet Chevron Baby Blanket

55:52
Easy Chevron Baby Blanket Pattern Notes: I chose to carry up the yarn when changing colors instead of breaking the yarn and weaving in all those ends. Do whatever works best for you. Final Measurements: 34" x 41" Gauge: Gauge isn't super important with this blanket, but each chevron peak = 5 inches across and 3 inches from top of peak to base line (if a straight line had been drawn from tip to tip). Materials -Yarn: I used 1 skein of Caron One Pound in Forest Green (Color B), 1/2 skein of Caron One Pound in each of Pale Green (Color A) and Soft Sage (Color C). -Size I/5.5 mm Crochet Hook -Stitch Markers -Scissors Abbreviations Ch = Chain Stitch = http://youtu.be/Jwb4jkZDfZs Dc = Double Crochet Stitch = http://youtu.be/afsUMg6wj9c Dc3tog = Double Crochet 3 Together St = Stitch Sc = Single Crochet Stitch = http://youtu.be/L8Z6aT5dac4 Sc2tog = Single Crochet 2 Together = http://youtu.be/14Swe3BNG8Q Sl st = Slip Stitch = http://youtu.be/PzOVw7vaRd0 Instructions Starting With Color A, Ch 178. Row 1: Skip 2 ch, work 2 dc in next ch, *1 dc in next 7 ch, dc3tog x 2, 1 dc in next 7 ch, 3 dc in next ch x 2. Repeat from * 6 more times. 1 dc in next 7 ch, dc3tog x 2, 1 dc in next 7 ch, 3 dc in next ch, ch 2, turn. Row 2: 2 dc in 1st st, *1 dc in next 7 sts, dc3tog x 2, 1 dc in next 7 sts, 3 dc in next st x 2. Repeat from * 6 more times. 1 dc in next 7 sts, dc3tog x 2, 1 dc in next 7 sts, 3 dc in top of turning chain, ch 2, turn. Attach Color B Repeat Row 2 until blanket is desired length alternating colors every 2 rows. If you are using 3 colors like I did, after the 6th Color B stripe, attach Color C and continue alternating every 2 rows. Bind off and weave in ends. If you are doing the border, you don't have to break the Color B yarn if you are okay with starting where it's located. Border Sc around entire blanket (using Color B). In the peaks and valleys, do the increases (3sc) and decreases (sc2tog). In the corners, do 2 sc sts. Join to 1st sc with a sl st, bind off and weave in end.
