The breed name translated means Canarian Catch Dog. As early as the 16th century the Presa Canrio has been noted in documents of the Canary Island. It is believed they are the result of various mastiff and bulldog breeds, that were crossed with the indegenous Majorero Cattle dog. The breed was originally bred for holding cattle, defend livestock against wild dogs and other predators, and to protect the homes of their families. For centuries the dogs were bred without consideration of size, color or appearance. They were simply bred based on their ability to do the work. Fighting is also part of the breed’s history, the farmers would allow their dogs fight one another as a matter of pride and bragging rights. These were considered honor fights use to prove their dog’s superiority. Centuries of isolation, created a dog unique to the region but it wasn’t officially recognized as a breed until 1989, by the Real Sociedad Canina de Espana. The breed standard calls for, The Presa Canario is a moderately large, powerfully constructed dog with a harsh- textured, flat coat. The head is massive and cuboid. Ears are set just above the line of the eye and may be cropped, naturally pendent or rose. The body of the Presa Canario is slightly longer than its height at the withers, with a broad, deep chest, but females may be slightly longer and possess somewhat less rib spring than the males. Skin is thick and elastic. The distance from the withers to the elbow is roughly equal to the distance from the elbow to the ground. The tail is very thick at the base, and tapers to a point. The tail is moderately high and reaches to the hock. The overall impression is that of an imposing, solid guard dog. Males stand 23-26 inches at the withers, with females standing 22-25 inches. Minimum weight for males is 100 pounds and 85 pounds for females. The acceptable colors for Presa are any shade of fawn, black, and brindle in any combination of these colors. The face must have a black or dark brown mask that does not extend over the eyes with oath without a white blaze or patch on the head. They are affectionate which means human contact is necessary for a balance and social Presa. The breed is confident which mean they don’t back down from challenges and can be dominant over perceived weakness. They are powerful which could mean serious liability if your Presa engages in an attack or an animal or human. They are a guardian breed and therefore should be weary of strangers, and will not hesitate to defend what they considered to be in their domain. A responsible owner will socialize and obedience train his Presa from an early age. He will also provide ample physical exercise and consistent rules and regulations. The presa is a working breed and will need considerable exercise and a home with a yard is recommended. The breed bonds strongly with family members but should never be left alone, unsupervised with small children. The temperament of every dog should be considered on an individual basis, it is wise to be aware of the documented history of aggression displayed by some dogs of the breed. "Man That You Fear" is the third and final single and the sixteenth track of the second album Antichrist Superstar. The song is inspired by what Manson had to grow up with and how it turned him into what he is now, a man or monster that people now have grown to fear. The line, "Are all your infants in abortion cribs?" refers to a story told in The Long Hard Road Out of Hell in which Manson as a child found a coffee can with something rotting inside. His mother told him it was discarded meat, but later told him that it was actually an aborted fetus. Music video Manson as seen in the music video In the music video, directed by Wiz, Manson portrays a man who is condemned to die. He is "chosen" by a blindfolded child who spins around pointing her finger. When she stops spinning, she removed the blindfold and sees the trailer home that she is pointing to — the condemned's home. The video features all events of his last day on earth, leading up to his death by stoning in an isolated location of the desert. It is oddly reminiscent of Shirley Jackson's short story The Lottery. Lyrics the ants are in the sugar the muscles atrophied we're on the other side, the screen is us and we're t.v. spread me open, sticking to my pointy ribs are all your infants in abortion cribs I was born into this everything turns to shit the boy that you loved is the man that you fear pray until you're number, asleep from all your pain, your apple has been rotting tomorrow's turned up dead i have it all and i have no choice but to i'll make everyone pay and you will see you can kill yourself now because you're dead in my mind the boy that you loved is the monster you fear peel off all those eyes and crawl into the dark, you've poisoned all of your children to camouflage your scars pray unto the splinters, pray unto your fear pray your life was just a dream the cut that never heals pray now baby, pray your life was just a dream (I am so tangled in my sins that I cannot Escape) pinch the head off, collapse me like a weed someone had to go this far I was born into this everything turns to shit the boy that you loved is the man that you fear peel off all those eyes and crawl into the dark, you've poisoned all of your children to camouflage your scars pray unto the splinters, pray unto your fear pray your life was just a dream the cut that never heals pray now baby, pray your life was just a dream the world in my hands, there's no one left to hear you scream there's no one left for you Demo Versions In 2011, Scott Putesky released the first demo version of "Man That You Fear", that was published as two different demo versions with purely minor audio differences, to the public via the website SoundCloud. The first version was recorded in the fall of 1995, and the other in 1996. Both versions are considerably shorter than the final song and notably lack several verses and the bridge present in the final version. Trivia The opening line of the song was first used in the song "Luci in the Sky with Demons" from The Family Jams. The song was initially penned during Manson's cousin's wedding ceremony.
