CAREERS IN DATA ANALYTICS - Salary , Job Positions , Top Recruiters What IS DATA ANALYTICS? Data analytics (DA) is the process of examining data sets in order to draw conclusions about the information they contain, increasingly with the aid of specialized systems and software. Data analytics technologies and techniques are widely used in commercial industries to enable organizations to make more-informed business decisions and by scientists and researchers to verify or disprove scientific models, theories and hypotheses. As a term, data analytics predominantly refers to an assortment of applications, from basic business intelligence (BI), reporting and online analytical processing (OLAP) to various forms of advanced analytics. In that sense, it's similar in nature to business analytics, another umbrella term for approaches to analyzing data -- with the difference that the latter is oriented to business uses, while data analytics has a broader focus. The expansive view of the term isn't universal, though: In some cases, people use data analytics specifically to mean advanced analytics, treating BI as a separate category. Data analytics initiatives can help businesses increase revenues, improve operational efficiency, optimize marketing campaigns and customer service efforts, respond more quickly to emerging market trends and gain a competitive edge over rivals -- all with the ultimate goal of boosting business performance. Depending on the particular application, the data that's analyzed can consist of either historical records or new information that has been processed for real-time analytics uses. In addition, it can come from a mix of internal systems and external data sources. Types of data analytics applications : At a high level, data analytics methodologies include exploratory data analysis (EDA), which aims to find patterns and relationships in data, and confirmatory data analysis (CDA), which applies statistical techniques to determine whether hypotheses about a data set are true or false. EDA is often compared to detective work, while CDA is akin to the work of a judge or jury during a court trial -- a distinction first drawn by statistician John W. Tukey in his 1977 book Exploratory Data Analysis. Data analytics can also be separated into quantitative data analysis and qualitative data analysis. The former involves analysis of numerical data with quantifiable variables that can be compared or measured statistically. The qualitative approach is more interpretive -- it focuses on understanding the content of non-numerical data like text, images, audio and video, including common phrases, themes and points of view. At the application level, BI and reporting provides business executives and other corporate workers with actionable information about key performance indicators, business operations, customers and more. In the past, data queries and reports typically were created for end users by BI developers working in IT or for a centralized BI team; now, organizations increasingly use self-service BI tools that let execs, business analysts and operational workers run their own ad hoc queries and build reports themselves. Introduction to Data Analytics with R, Tableau & Excel | Data Analytics Career in 2019 & Beyond

06:11
Introduction to Data Analytics with R, Tableau & Excel | Data Analytics Career in 2019 & Beyond https://acadgild.com/big-data/data-analytics-training-certification?aff_id=6003&source=youtube&account=UgnojgSKQLk&campaign=youtube_channel&utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=intro-DA-R-tableau-excel&utm_campaign=youtube_channel Did you know? by 2020, every human being will create over 1.5 megabytes of data per second on average. In 2025, the sum of digital data will add up to 180 zettabytes, which is over 1600 trillion gigabytes. Considering these numbers, it is an understatement to say that the data is only BIG. So, what is Big Data and how is it related to Data Analytics? Big data is a large volume of data that consists of both structured and unstructured data forms. helps organizations to draw meaningful insights from their data to learn and grow. Thus, it’s the data that matters and not it’s volume. Structured data is organized information that can be accessed with the help of simple search algorithms. While Unstructured data as the name suggests is less uniform and thus difficult to work with. The lack of structure makes compiling data at a time and energy-consuming task. The Relation Between Big Data and Analytics: The process of uncovering hidden patterns, unknown correlations, market trends, customer preferences and other useful information from both structured and unstructured data is called Data analytics. The Benefits of Using Data Analytics. • Analytics help organizations make informed decisions and choices. • It boosts the overall performance of the organization by refining the financial processes, increasing visibility, providing insights and granting control over managerial processes. • It detects fraud and flaws by keeping a close vigil. • It further Improves the IT economy by increasing agility and flexibility of systems. The above mentioned are just a few advantages, however, the list goes on. Despite the growing interest in data analytics, there is an acute shortage of professionals with good data analytical skills. Thus, only 0.5% of the data we produce is analysed. There is a serious shortage of skilled professionals. Thus, the ones who are called proficient data analysts must have certain skills. They must possess a varied skill-set like computer science, data mining and business management to provide from the data they are working on. Their computer science skills should include both programming skills and technical skills • Programming Skills: Python, R, and Java • Technical Skills: Knowledge of platforms like Hadoop, Hive, Spark, etc., Their data skills should include Warehousing Skills, Quantitative & Statistical Skills & Analytical & Interpretation Skills • Warehousing Skills: Data scientist must possess good analytical skills • Quantitative & Statistical Skills: As technology is a key aspect of big data analysis, quantitative and statistical skills are essential • Analytical & Interpretation Skills: knacks to analyses and interpret data The business skills are important to use the data effectively and to improve various aspects such as operations, finance, productivity, etc., These are the skills that make the data analytics professional an invaluable asset to the organization. The lack of skilled data professionals is an opportunity in turn for upcoming data scientists to make their mark in the field of data analytics. As the significance of data grows in the business world, the value of professionals working in analytics also increases. This is creating a variety of job roles amongst organizations and they are. Preventing Fraud Waste and Abuse through Analytics - SAS Session 16: Big Data 2014 - A PSP Forum

44:19
Preventing Fraud Waste and Abuse through Analytics - SAS Session 16: Big Data 2014 Speakers: Randy Silva, Chief Investigation & Special Operations, CA Board of Equalization & Carl Hammersburg, Government Fraud Specialist/SAS Institute Thumbnail: This video details some of the methods that criminals, external and internal, use in an attempt to defraud government programs and then discusses new efforts that are being employed to stop them. By changing policy and using modern Data Mining and Analytic tools, they are being discovered more rapidly and this saves the Government huge sums of tax payer dollars. This session was presented at the 2014 PSP Big Data Forum -- Managing Government Information Effectively. Extended Description: Traditional approaches (tips, hunches, outdated case files) to dealing with fraud, compliance and security risks aren't sufficient anymore. That's true for all levels of government. Fraud and improper payments continues to be a major issue affecting the fiscal condition of state programs. Fraud and abuse perpetrators and their schemes are constantly evolving and becoming increasingly more sophisticated. Traditional "pay-and-chase" controls are no longer sufficient to address today's complex program integrity challenges. In order to effectively combat fraud and abuse, agencies need to take a holistic approach that focuses on both detection and prevention. In this session, presenters, including Randy Silva, Chief Investigation & Special Operations, from the California Board of Equalization, address challenges, trends and successes from within California as well as looking at a broader perspective from outside the state. Sharing data is critical for the broader perspective and maximum protection, but also a legal and technical hot button. Learn how laws and practices are trending and how analytics are utilized to provide automated and continuous views of risk that can leverage strapped resources and save tens to hundreds of millions of dollars. This video was filmed at the Jan 22, 2014 Big Data-Managing Government Effectively: A Public Sector Partners Education Forum. If you would like information on any future PSP Forums, please visit our event site at www.pspinfo.us Contact Information: Russ Hicks, President Public Sector Partners, Inc. [email protected]

Data Analyst Vs Data Scientist | Difference Between a Data Scientist and a Data Analyst https://acadgild.com/big-data/data-analytics-training-certification?aff_id=6003&source=youtube&account=dY2yDwUfZu0&campaign=youtube_channel&utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=da-vs-ds&utm_campaign=youtube_channel To learn how data scientists are different from data analysts just takes – seconds/minutes. So, let’s get started. First up, they’re not entirely different. Both careers are in demand and pay well. The average data analyst earns $ 65,470, while the average data scientist makes $ 120,931. The difference in salaries, however, indicates a difference in the skill sets of these professionals. Data scientists are advanced data analysts. They possess additional skills that allow them to do more with data. Data analysts generally access known data from a single source like a CRM to solve a given set of business problems. These problems are usually customer or user-centric. Data analysts aim to uncover new insights from known data that can help them resolve the chosen problems. They manage data on programs like Excel. They use SQL to raise queries and find the solutions they are looking for. Much of their work revolves around scanning existing data to identify new patterns and make new correlations. Sometimes, they work with engineers to create new data if the known data is insufficient. Lastly, they use Tableau to effectively communicate their findings. Data scientists can perform most of the tasks data analysts perform. Additionally, they possess data warehousing, machine learning, programming and statistical modeling skills that help them formulate the most-pressing questions businesses must look to answer. They are proficient in programs like - Python, R, SAS, Matlab, SQL, Pig, Hive, Scala and Hadoop. Their work is not restricted to what affects customers. And, it involves working with data from multiple and often disconnected sources. Data scientists possess greater business acumen than analysts. They are also more adept at visualizing data and communicating insights to varied audiences. Given the power of data in today’s world, data scientists can ask the ‘what if’ questions to business stakeholders and IT leaders to alter the course of businesses with powerful story-telling. For these reasons, they earn twice as much as data analysts. Now you know what sets data scientists apart from data analysts.
