Peter Lokeris, the Minister of State for Mineral Development admits that the recent lifting of the ban on export of raw minerals, means reforms must equally be pushed to protect the mining sector. Reference and original, including an explanation about each character in this video: http://blog.ninapaley.com/2012/10/01/this-land-is-mine/ It tells the story of the wars in the land called Israel/Palestine/Canaan/the Levant, since the cavemen until today, all so musical and poetic. "This Land is Mine" is a video from Nina Paley, originally posted on Vimeo. In the end of this video appear the text "Copying is an Act of Love, please copy and share. copyheart.org". So, here it is. LYRIC: The Exodus Song, "This Land is Mine" (Lyrics by Pat Boone. Sung by Andy Williams) This land is mine God gave this land to me This brave and ancient land to me And when the morning sun Reveals her hills and plains Then I see a land Where children can run free. So take my hand And walk this land with me And walk this lovely land with me Tho' I am just a man When you are by my side With the help of God I know I can be strong. Tho' I am just a man When you are by my side With the help of God I know I can be strong. To make this land our home If I must fight I'll fight to make this land our own. Until I die this land is mine!

An estimated 160 million children around the world spend most days working. Nearly 11 million of them live in the Americas — and in Bolivia, thousands work at the most dangerous job: mining. The Bolivian government recently lowered the legal working age from 14 to 10 years old — in order to at least regulate the labor conditions of children who already have the dangerous jobs. Richard, 15, has been working in Cerro Rico mine since he was 10-years-old. “There is no one to talk to in the mine, you can’t go play, there are no friends, there’s nothing,” Richard told VICE News. He wants to stop working but his job helps support his six siblings. Miners like Richard can earn up to $86 per week. But it’s not just the little they make. Local NGO’s say that on average 14 miners die every month from accidents and a lung disease called silicosis. VICE News followed Richard as he worked inside Cerro Rico's dangerous tunnels. THIRTY seconds of fun has cost up to 15 miners their jobs in Western Australia. A group of workers from Barminco and Hahn Electrical Contracting were fired for their involvement in a re-enactment of the viral dance craze, the Harlem Shake. The news comes as US aviation safety authorities investigate an incident where an airline allowed university students and passengers to perform the popular dance in the aisles of a plane during a flight. One of the sacked miners claims no safety regulations were breached, and a second says no-one was endangered in the stunt at Agnew gold mine, the West Australian reports. The Barminco staff have not only been fired, but banned for life, according to a letter of dismissal. Apparently all the miners involved were wearing helmets, lamps, and glasses and had oxygen on hand. The workers believe their only breach of rules was removing their long-sleeve shirts. "It was 2.30 in the morning and we thought we just had to do something to get us going again," one unnamed worker said. "Sometimes you lose a bit of momentum at that time of the morning." It took a week for all of the miners to lose their jobs after the 30-second clip was uploaded to YouTube. Meanwhile in the US, the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) is looking at an incident on board a Frontier Airlines flight from Colorado Springs to San Diego. The university students, members of their school's ultimate frisbee team, had permission from the flight crew to perform the Harlem Shake and recruit fellow passengers using the PA system. A video of the shenanigans - Harlem Shake Frontier Flight 157 - had more than three millions views on YouTube at 8am AEDT. The FAA has taken more of a dim view on the fun and games. A spokesman said: "If we find any evidence of a violation of Federal Aviation Regulations, then we would pursue it." The airline says it followed safety procedures and turned the seatbelt sign off. Student Matt Zelin told his school's newspaper is surprised the incident is under review. "When we got to the airport we were kind of ready and had brought costumes and stuff," he said. "Obviously I hope that this whole situation is solved with the FAA. "I don't see there being any reason why this should cause any trouble. "We asked the staff and they said it was safe." That will be a question for the authorities. But as one YouTube user said: "life is too short not to have a banana suit on a plane".

SUSCRIBE: http://full.sc/MAw7fp FACEBOOK:http://ow.ly/bz3FR TWITTER: @AstridCa WEB: www.latinonewstv.com "Audio file(s) provided by http://www.audiomicro.com" Up to 15 miners were fired from their high-paying jobs in an Australian gold mine after a "Harlem Shake" performance underground was deemed a safety hazard, a newspaper reported on Monday. A YouTube video shows eight miners wearing safety gear while performing the convulsive dance in the Agnew Gold Mine last week. The West Australian newspaper quoted a sacked worker who wouldn't give his name as saying up to 15 people were fired, including some who watched the performance but did not participate. Mine owner Barminco considered the stunt a safety issue and a breach of its "core values of safety, integrity and excellence," according to a dismissal letter cited by the paper. The letter noted that Barminco would not allow the dancing workers "to be subcontracted by Barminco at any site domestically and globally." It's not clear from the video what safety issues are raised. The dancing miners wear helmets, but five are shirtless. The sacked worker told the newspaper that shirts had been removed to ensure the Barminco name did not appear in the video. Barminco, which has operations in Africa as well as its native Australia, did not immediately respond to a request for comment Monday. Australia is experiencing a mining boom, with thousands of workers attracted by high salaries to remote Outback mines. The West Australian said the miners who lost their jobs had six-figure salaries. The unnamed worker who spoke to the newspaper said the miners were only "having a bit of fun." A Facebook page set up seeking their reinstatement carried comments supporting the workers as well as people saying safety regulations should be obeyed. Paddy Gorman, spokesman for the Construction, Forestry, Mining, and Energy Union, said none of the miners at Agnew Gold Mine in resource-rich Western Australia state is a member of the mining union. Up to 4,000 videos of "Harlem Shake" variations are uploaded on the Internet daily. The song "Harlem Shake," recorded by Brooklyn disc jockey and producer Baauer, is currently No.2 on the Australian singles chart. Kenya needs to embark on serious countrywide mapping to explore all mineral deposits at its disposal. That will improve Kenya’s mining potential and increase mining revenue generation from its current 1 percent in the gross domestic product. This is according to Mining Cabinet Secretary Dan Kazungu who says the ministry is operating within a precolonial mining act that has been proved to be a barrier to the development of mining in Kenya. The Kenya chamber of miners has criticized the government over a raft of regulations seeking to bring sanity in the industry. The chamber claims mining minister Najib Balala's actions are out of tune with international best practice. The chamber further noted that the minister went against the spirit of consultations that they had started with the state as part of instituting order in the industry. Apart from revoking licenses issued from January to date, Balala also proposed increases in royalty. Under the deal, rare earth minerals such as niobium and titanium ores, royalties would rise to 10 percent of gross sales value for from 3 percent previously. Royalty rates for other extracted minerals would vary between 1 percent and 12 percent. Civil Liberties Australia (WA) took the case of two children, about to be made destitute and homeless under WA's draconian Criminal Property Confiscation Act, to the Supreme Court. Justice Jeremy Allanson said arguments relating to fairness and justice were not supported in the legislation and the Act was clear. "Whether a confiscation is fair or just and whether that confiscation will give rise to hardship are not considerations to which I may have regard," he said. Civil Liberties Australia will now campaign to have the law changed. Learn more and join the campaign at facebook.com/CLAWesternAustralia
